The city of Imatra will host Road Racing again when the Finnish IRRC race is held on 7.-9. July 2016. The racing starts already on Friday the 7th, when a free training session is held.
Then on Saturday the IRRC Superbike and IRRC Supersport sidecar time trials will start at 9 AM. In the afternoon a second time trial is held before the first 10 lap races start before the evening. One highlight during the day is the classic driver's parade with the most successful racer of all time Giacomo Agostini leading the pack.
The event will be wrapped up by Sunday when all classes will have a 10 lap races.
Imatra is possibly the best-known scene for Road Racing in Finland. Between 1962 and 1986 the city streets turned into a racetrack a total of 25 times and at best Imatra held World Championship races. After ’86 racing moved from the streets to purpose built circuits.
The main classes are IRRC Superbike and IRRC Supersport alongside which Motorclub Imatra have planned heats for Open 1000, Open 600 and Lightweight and sidecar classes.
Held last August, the 52. Imatranajo attracted more than 40,000 spectators.
Imatranajo will be held on 7.-9. July as the Finnish IRRC race. IRRC, International Road Racing Championship is a European Road Racing series. The other races are held in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Czech Republic.
